Where are you starting from?
Late at night the 3 doesn't run in Brooklyn. Take the 4 instead: at night it stops at Kingston Av. On the red line, ride a 2 to Franklin Av and change to the 4 there.

Inside 770
“770” is the street number, and it has become the building's name: a brick house with gables on Eastern Parkway.
An exhibition hall of the Chabad library.
Where Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn lived. It is closed to the public.

- To the right of the corridor. 770's first shul, where the Previous Rebbe davened, and in the early years the Rebbe too. Today it is a study hall for yeshiva students.

- At the end of the entrance floor, on the left. From 1970 the Rebbe's talks went out live from here.
The main shul is below street level, beside 770, mostly under 784–788 Eastern Parkway. It grew in stages as the crowds grew. The women's section is above it.

History
1933
770 is built as a doctor's home and medical office.
1940
Chabad buys the building as a home and shul for the Previous Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, when he arrives in the United States.
1951
In the small zal, the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, formally takes on the leadership of Chabad.
1970
The Rebbe's talks are first broadcast live from 770 to other cities.
Today
Dozens of copies of the building stand in cities around the world.
